Naive, colourful and a little chaotic in the best way. I paint still lifes, flowers, market scenes and whatever catches my eye in Malta. Mostly acrylic on canvas, sometimes oil pastel or watercolour.

KAT SCHÖNKNECHT
I'm Kat. I paint and I design, and I live in Malta. Originally from Germany, I came here for the light and the colour and ended up staying. The Mediterranean has a way of doing that.
Painting is the personal side of things. Still lifes, flowers, market scenes, whatever I find interesting. The work is naive and colourful and a bit Mediterranean. You can find it at markets around Malta or in a few venues on the island.
Design is the professional side. I've been doing it for over five years: flyers, menus, identities, book covers, digital work. I take briefs seriously and I build things from scratch.
When I'm not doing either, I make silver jewellery under the name Karmakoha, wander markets and look for walls to hang things on.
